"At the age of 17, I, drunk, played a game with simple rules in my friends pool.

with 3 players, the goal was simple, hold your breath longer than the others. First one up must have 3 shots, the second 2, and the winner just one.

I won, had my shot and exited the pool as the two losers took their punishments.

I laughed with the second as he exited for a time before returning my gaze to the pool. under its surface, face down at the bottom of the pool was the loser, drowning.

While he survived, this event still haunts me more as I grow older,  the dream of the game snapping as the horrific reality rushed in.

I wished to emulate this feeling in the lighter game, its immature characters stupidly ‘one uping’ each other until disaster strikes, the dream of risk vanishing as its punishment takes over. You lose."
